TR-7W Firmware / Script Update Procedure

In the explanation where an (XXX) appears, the actual version name and number will appear.Please read using the name and number of the appropriate version.

Important Notice before carrying out an Update

1. This program can only be run using either Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP (above SP2) , Windows Vista or Windows 7. Operations cannot be carried out using any other platform (operating system).

2. When carrying out the Update, please make sure to use an account which has Administrator Rights.

3. It is necessary that the TR-7W Logger to be updated and the computer that will be used for executing the update be connected to the same local network. TR-7W Loggers that are connected using a router to an outside network, such as the Internet, will not be updated properly, even though the program is executed correctly.

Updating Procedure

1. After downloading the Update Program, double click on the file [app_tr7wScript-XXX-all.exe] to start the installation process.(If an older update has been installed, please uninstall it first. )

2. Upon execution, a window will appear asking you to select the folder in which to install the update program.Please make any necessary changes to the assigned folder.Install the Update Program by following the instructions as they appear on the screen.

3. By clicking the [Next] button, the Update Program will automatically be installed and the [TR-7W Update verXXX (XXXX/XX)] window will appear.

4. Once the screen as shown below appears, in the area outlined in red enter the address (IP address or Domain Name) in the [Address] text box for the TR-7W that is to be updated and in the [Login ID] and [Password] text boxes enter the registered Administrator ID and Password.

5. If updating the Firmware click the [Firmware] button, or if updating the Script, click the [Script] button.
Once the button has been clicked, the firmware or script update will automatically be carried out for the target TR-7W.

*During the update installation, do not carry out any changes to TR-7W settings or any data downloading.
*During the updating process, make sure not to turn off the power to the TR-7W. Either action may cause the TR-7W to not work properly.

6. The Firmware Update should take 1-2 minutes and the Script Update should take about 4-5 minutes. Once [Firmware-Update completed.] or [Script-Update completed.] appears the update has been successfully completed.

7. If you wish to update both the Firmware and the Script carry out steps 2-5 once more for the update you wish to carry out next. After you have finished all desired updates, click the [Close] button.

How to Confirm that the Update has been Successful

1. Opening the TR-7W Web Viewer

2. Click [Administrator Tools] and after entering your ID and Password, when in Administrator Mode click on [Properties].

3. If the version number which appears in the red box is the same as the one which you downloaded, the update was a success.

Troubleshooting

Q1: A "Communication Error" message appears, what should I do?

A:Please check the following.

Check that the power is on for the target TR-7W.
Check that the TR-7W Logger to be updated and the computer that will be used for executing the update are connected to the same local network.
Check that the entries for [Address], [Login ID], and [Password] are correct.

Q2: What should I do if the updating stops while in progress?

A: If you are using a wireless LAN to carry out the update, try using a wired LAN and run the update again. If an error occurs with the wired LAN, please follow the instructions below.

1. If during the update the program stops and does not resume for 5 or more minutes, click the [Close] button to quit the program.
2.Double click on the icon [FirmScriptUDxxxxxxxx.exe] found on the desktop.
3.The TR7W Update window will appear, carry out "Update Procedures" from number 4.
4. If after restarting the update program and carrying out the procedure again, the update does still not work properly, please contact you local T&D representative.
